It Started with a Memory
Growing up in Kawambwa, a rural village in Zambia's Luapula province, I knew what it meant to dream bigger than your circumstances. I walked nearly two hours to school on hot days, arriving hungry but never giving up on the idea of helping others in a meaningful way. With determination, I earned the education that changed my life — and eventually brought me to the United States.
But the memory of home never left me.
The Honey That Started It All
That calling led me back to my roots. I reconnected with my cousin Chad Kasakula, who had put himself through the University of Zambia by selling honey. Together with local expert Mr. Ngoma and Peace Corps volunteers Hannah and Thomas Clay, we trained over 40 beekeepers across Samfya, Kawambwa, and Kazembe. We provide the beehives — they bring the expertise, and nature does the rest.
Our Zambian honey comes from the untouched Miombo forests, far from commercial farms and chemicals. These bees feed on their own honey — never syrup — and we harvest only what we need, leaving the rest for the hive.
A Happy Accident in a Foreign City
The Kyrgyzstan chapter of our story began unexpectedly. Visiting my sister abroad after years apart, we missed the mall we'd planned to go to — and wandered into a shop that changed everything. There on the shelf sat a jar of rare white honey from the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. One taste was all it took. Through the connections that followed, we partnered with a honey importer in Dubai who sources this extraordinary honey directly from Kyrgyzstan's pristine alpine valleys. Sometimes the best discoveries come from a wrong turn.
